Short Bio Bhaskar Alan Deva lived and studied at a yoga ashram for 17 years, receiving the monastic title “Swami” from Rev. Sri Swami Satchidananda. As Development Coordinator of the 1,000 acre community, he employed the Indian form of Feng Shui, Vastu Shastra. Bhaskar continued his studies with Professor Lin Yun, a Grand Master of Feng Shui. He combines his training, with experience as a General & Electrical Contractor, bringing the power of Feng Shui to millions through consultations and radio broadcasts. Bhaskar has lead the opening invocation and presents regularly at the International Feng Shui Conferences. He teaches at the College of Marin.

Long Bio

Bhaskar Alan Deva             My path to becoming a Feng Shui and Vastu Shastra consultant and teacher started about 30 years ago. The culmination of this service has lead to a transformative week-long certification training seminar incorporating Feng Shui and Vastu Shastra principals, and an accreditation status for Continuing Education offered by the California Department of Real Estate.             I strongly believe in sharing ancient teachings, which help to enhance sacred spaces around us as well as within us. My goal is to create balance and joy in the lives of others. The result of this leads to optimal health and well being, abundant prosperity, improved relationships and greater efficiency in life. The endless search of this ancient knowledge has recently lead me to India and China to learn under masters of these great arts.             My service has lead me to practice throughout the United States and abroad in Australia, Europe and Asia. I have augmented my spiritual knowledge with the very practical, having interfaced with Architects, Builders and Designers while receiving my own General Contractor and Electrician's license. Many wonderful experiences have created a strong foundation facilitating my services.               As early as 1974, at the age of 18, I began studying with Reverend Sri Swami Satchidananda, a world renowned Indian Yoga Master. After moving to the ashram (spiritual community), I received monastic vows and the title of "Swami". For the next 17 years, I was immersed in spiritual practices while working and teaching at the ashram. During this time, the wisdom of Vastu Shastra, the Indian precursor to Feng Shui, was imparted.              The spiritual practices traditions and rituals were fostered when I was appointed Development Coordinator for the 1,000-acre community. Proficiency in Vastu Shastra was honed by participating in a committee to determine the sites and designs of buildings to create a self-reliant community. I also had the privilege to assist in the actual construction of homes, schools, dormitories, libraries, meeting and dining halls, healing center, airport, fire station, monastery and Temples.             For many years, I was part of a team that worked tirelessly to build a lotus-shaped shrine which was truly a blending of two worlds; the spiritual within the structural. The mere design of this shrine, which has altars for all religions known and unknown, explains the most important understanding that “Truth is one, paths are many!” In 1986, the world famous LOTUS Shrine (Light of Truth Universal Shrine) located in Central Virginia was inaugurated.             In 1996, I continued my studies with Professor Lin Yun, a Tantric Buddhist Grand Master of Feng Shui from the Black Hat Sect. After extensive studies and practice, I began a consultation service, which continues today. In the same year, prior to the First International Feng Shui Conference, I produced an audio cassette entitled "Developing the Spiritual Power of Feng Shui". I am fortunate to be a regular presenter at the International Conference and in 1999, was honored to lead the Invocation, inaugurating the conference, which was attended by a thousand people.               Since 1997, I have been teaching a popular course in Feng Shui at the College of Marin and have been a guest speaker at the American Yoga College since 1998. In 2000, the Abundant Well Being Temple was founded together with my wife Nischala Joy Devi, who is also a renowned author, speaker and lecturer. During that year, I was interviewed by Travel Radio Productions, which has a listener's audience of over 10 million people worldwide.             I feel so fortunate to have also been featured in the publications, Feng Shui for Modern Living and the Feng Shui Journal. My most recent lectures on Vastu Shastra were given at the Ayurvedic International Symposium in Berkeley in early May of this year.             The results of my training and experiences have allowed me to establish a comprehensive perspective and keen awareness for environmental design, modifications and for developing personal rituals reflecting the significance of the ancient wisdoms of Feng Shui and Vastu Shastra.             I feel very blessed to have had so many significant opportunities, which have enabled me to remain a powerful catalyst in improving people’s lives.
